Hispanic/Latino Americans Coming OUT in Support of Arizona’s Anti-Illegal Immigration Bill SB 1070; American Hispanics Don’t Want Illegal Immigrants

Hispanic/Latino Americans Coming OUT in Support of Arizona’s Anti-Illegal Immigration Bill SB 1070; American Hispanics Don’t Want Illegal Immigrants in their State:

By Marc Chamot

On a note first, I understand that Texas Governor Rick Perry is looking to find ways, to avoid his state on taking immigration issues like Arizona. Obviously Mr. Perry, the pro-NAFTA Highway Perry, actually the one who loves and supports illegal immigration. So in that note, I’ll say to Mr. Perry, let Arizona’s porous illegal’s and their drugs go through your state, Texas.

To Mr. Perry; we’ll see how fast Texas voters will put up with YOUR idiotic behaviors’, the RINO who likes to call himself Republican. I’m pretty sure, the coyotes, drug cartels, and Mexican government are working to expedite the El Paso-Juarez routes to get even bigger than what they are now. Well how about going through Brownville, Mexi-folks? What a real moron Texas got for a governor, and a Republican one at that.

If I didn’t know it, the Arizona immigrations law has just ignited a fully fledged immigration war in this country. Everyone is taking sides, and it’s going to be a bitter battle to the END. And now, even anti-illegal immigrant Latinos/Hispanics are coming out the woodworks in support of Arizona’s law.

Just as I thought, did you think EVERY Hispanic/Latino in this country supported illegal immigration? Well, YOU better think again?

Warning: Oops! This didn't come from “White” me, it’s Latinos saying it.

“Schwartz, a retired USPS worker, says undocumented workers are taking jobs from citizens like her teenage granddaughter, who hasn't been able to find a job since she began looking after she turned 15.

"She can't even work at the Hometown Buffet if she doesn't speak Spanish. How fair is that?" she said.

But Schwartz and some other Americans with Hispanic backgrounds who spoke with CNN say the problem with illegal immigrants isn't just the jobs they take. It's how they're overrunning towns like Phoenix, turning them into "mini-Mexicos" with their trash-filled streets and loud music, according to Schwartz.

Of equal concern to her friend, Martha Payan, is how she claims illegal immigrants "fleece" government coffers by collecting welfare on multiple children, or vanish without a trace after an arrest or a hospital visit."

The two women, who became acquainted through various demonstrations in the metro Phoenix area, met Thursday to discuss their views outside the Maricopa County Municipal building, as more backlash against the controversial immigration law continued to flood the city.

Latin pop star Shakira arrived in town Thursday to discuss SB 1070 with Mayor Phil Gordon, who has vowed to fight the law. This comes a day after Mexico urged its citizens not to travel to Arizona.

Sporting a white baseball cap that that reads, "100% American Citizen," Schwartz says she believes that SB 1070 came about because law enforcement in Phoenix was fed up over not being able to ask suspects about their immigration status.

"Any time an American does something wrong or breaks the law they're going to pay the consequences. Whenever an illegal does something wrong they get a new ID and become a new person," she says. "I want the laws same for everybody here, not bent for them.”

Rest of the Story; Some Hispanic Americans hope law deters illegal immigration

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Woman who supports the new immigration law says she has been called racist
  • She also believes illegal immigrants are taking away jobs
  • Some with Hispanic roots say illegal immigrants are turning towns into "mini-Mexicos"
  • One woman says negative experience in school system helped form her opinion

Phoenix, Arizona (CNN) -- Sue Schwartz says she's been called a racist so many times she doesn't mind the label anymore. If wanting immigrants to enter the country legally, like her great-grandparents from Mexico, and obey the laws of the land makes her racist, then so be it, she says firmly.

"I'm getting to the point I wear it with pride," says Schwartz, a lifelong Arizonan who has warily watched the growth of the illegal immigrant population in the state over the course of her life.

About 500,000 unauthorized immigrants were believed to live in Arizona in 2008, and 11.9 million nationwide, up from 3.5 million nationwide in 1990, according to a Pew Hispanic Center report published in 2009.

This year, the tide is finally turning in her favor, she says, with the passage of SB 1070, aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration.

The new law requires immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there is reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.

"I hope it makes a lot of them leave on their own, self-deportation. Hopefully that'll open up more jobs. There are a lot of people here who will do menial jobs -- maybe not pick lettuce, but these people aren't just picking lettuce anymore," says Schwartz.

The new law also targets those who hire illegal immigrant day laborers or knowingly transport them.

What will Arizona immigration law do?

The 59-year-old mother of four adult children says her Mexican parents and grandparents taught her a respect for the law at an early age. Her grandmother, who lived in Juarez, Mexico, after being kicked out of the United States for smuggling drugs, encouraged her to get a good education and speak English, her second language, outside of the home.

"If I entered another country illegally I'd go to jail, yet they're demanding better treatment than their government would give us," she says.

iReport: Share your thoughts on immigration policy

Anna Gaines, a Mexican-born U.S. citizen, says she took up the fight against illegal immigration after becoming disillusioned by the attitudes of immigrant families that she witnessed as a teacher in the Paradise Valley School District in Paradise, Arizona.

"Many of these families were having one child after another just to earn a paycheck from the U.S. government and they didn't care about their children's education," says Gaines, the controversial founder of American Citizens United, a grass-roots organization known for its extreme views on immigration enforcement. "They didn't want to contribute, just take."

Gaines, who came to the United States as a nurse on a work visa during the Vietnam War and met her current husband, says she thinks immigrants have changed over the years.

"There used to be a level of dignity and self-respect. They were hard-working people who wanted to contribute to American society because it was better than where they came from," says Gaines, a petite woman in her 70s. "But our government has been giving them handouts for so long that now they expect them."

Gaines says SB 1070 mirrors federal law on fortifying the borders, allowing local officials to enforce immigration law in a manner that the federal government should have been doing all along.

"We as Americans have the right to defend this country's laws. There's nothing racist about protecting the country," she says.

Payan, originally from Puerto Rico, hopes the law will deter future illegal immigration.

"I hope it stops trespassers and lets people know the law is the law and you cross that border illegally, it's a crime," she says.

Payan has also been called "traidora," or traitor, by neighbors in her primarily Hispanic neighborhood who know how she feels about illegal immigrants.

"They know how I feel. I don't hide my feeling," she says. "I've already had by apartment broken into and had my car hit by an illegal. What more do I have to lose?"

Arizona’s SB1070 Fallout; U.S. Senate Democrats Looking into More Border Security & It’s TIME to militarize our Southern Borders:

Arizona’s SB1070 Fallout; U.S. Senate Democrats Looking into More Border Security & It’s TIME to militarize our Southern Borders:

By Marc Chamot

President Obama had promised so many times to secure our southern borders with Mexico, and it has been just another failed promise as usual coming from him.

Even though U.S. congress Democrats may want to push for more border security, the people still DON’T WANT or SUPPORT AMNESTY to illegals!

About two years ago, I warned folks on my blogs, the lacking of border security with the rampant illegal immigrants running about this country would become EXPLOSSIVE for the party in power, those who do not resolve this problem. Sooner or Later, the crapola has flatly hit the Democrats on their collective rear ends.

Source: Democrats want border security before legalization “An emerging immigration proposal by three Democratic senators’ calls for more federal enforcement agents and other border security-tightening benchmarks before illegal immigrants could become legal U.S. residents.

Those goals "must be met before action can be taken to adjust the status of people already in the United States illegally," according to a copy of the draft legislation, obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press, that Sens. Harry Reid of Nevada, Charles Schumer of New York and Robert Menendez are developing.”

After the gruesome anti-illegal criminal aliens bill just passed by Arizona, SB1070, now Democrats in the U.S. senate in congress are scurrying to push for more border security.

While Republicans are sitting back, they should garner this opportunity to propose bills, to place our military personnel in hot spot areas of the border. If were militarily capable to fight wars and defend other nations from aggressions, we certainly can do it here too.

Democrat’s plans are good, but not good enough to really make a dent on the border. What our border with Mexico really needs is more manpower, to help counteract the drug traffickers, smugglers, and the coyotes.

AND what we also NEED; is to get tougher on employers who hire illegal aliens.

“The benchmarks include additional Border Patrol officers and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to combat smuggling; more ICE inspectors at work sites; an increased number of ICE officers assigned to detect fraudulent documents, and better ways to determine fakes; more personnel to check for contraband at ports of entry; additional resources to prosecute drug and human smugglers and illegal border crossers, and for deportations.”

More from source: Democrats want border security before legalization before the benchmarks are met. The Department of Homeland Security could begin registering, fingerprinting and screening illegal immigrants, and considering them for an interim legal status. That would allow them to work in the U.S. and travel outside it.

Such immigrants could start applying for legal permanent residence, eight years after backlogs of visas for people coming to the U.S. legally have been cleared and after the security benchmarks are met. They also must show they have basic citizenship and English skills, have paid all taxes, fees and civil penalties and registered for the military draft.

Arizona's new strict immigration law has led to renewed demands for Congress to pass a comprehensive immigration bill. Reid, the Senate's majority leader, recently said he is committed to taking up immigration this election year, but also backed away from a possibility of addressing the divisive issue before climate change.

Spokesmen for the three senators declined comment.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, who has worked with Schumer on an immigration bill, has balked at moving ahead this year. At a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday, Graham, R-S.C., said drug violence along the border with Mexico is evidence that the border is not secure. He said immigration reform would crash and burn if brought up this year.

Democrats have failed so far to get a second Republican to join Graham in writing the bipartisan immigration bill. The outline of the immigration proposal issued Wednesday is an attempt to persuade some Republicans to change their mind.

A 10-point border security plan by Arizona Republican Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl this month also called for increases in border and immigration personnel and equipment.

Not GAY Enough; 3 Heterosexuals Sue Gay Softball World Series for Sexual Discriminations:

Not GAY Enough; 3 Heterosexuals Sue Gay Softball World Series for Sexual Discriminations:
By Marc Chamot

What’s good for the Goose is also good for the Gander, a case which could level the playing field from liberal onslaughts on private religious clubs and organizations.

Apilado, LaRon Charles and Jon Russ, all they ever wanted to do is win the championship game at the Gay Softball Word Series for their amateur team D2, a San Francisco Gay baseball team.

Instead the three were led into a conference room at the tournament in suburban Seattle and ASKED about their “PRIVATE” sexual attractions and desires. Soon after the findings came out that these three weren’t gay enough, they were removed from the league and the team was stripped of second place finish.

So they are suing a national gay sports organization of sexual discrimination. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District court in Seattle; it is pitting some national gay rights groups, who are backing the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance.

At question will be if any state of Washington’s public accommodations anti-discriminatory laws were violated by these actions. Even though rules do dictate that up to two heterosexuals’ can play in league teams, but more than that are direct violations of gay league governing rules.

This stems from an August 2008 league competition in Kent Washington. A sore losing team, the Atlanta Mudcats who had lost a playoff game to D2, complained that the San Francisco team had too many straits and not enough gays.

These men were asked intrusive and very embarrassing sexual questions about themselves. Charles asked if being bi-sexual would do? “This is the Gay World Series, not the Bisexual World Series” was the sordid response.

At this very moment, the U.S. Supreme Court is ready to hear the U.C. Hastings College of Law in California, over homosexuals and Muslims suing a Christian Club, over their by-laws and refusals to let them into their club.

The case of the Christian club

The Supreme Court will decide if the UC Hastings Law School can withhold recognition of a chapter of the Christian Legal Society.

Can the UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco force a Christian student organization, as a condition of official recognition, to accept members who reject the group's values? The Supreme Court, which will consider that question on Monday, should answer no.

At Hastings, "recognized" student groups are given access to college facilities and bulletin boards but aren't sponsored by the college. Nor does Hastings endorse their points of view. Even so, a chapter of the Christian Legal Society was denied recognition on the grounds that it violated a policy prohibiting discrimination on the basis of religion and sexual orientation.

Now Hastings argues that the society also ran afoul of a broader policy requiring groups to open leadership positions to students "regardless of their status or beliefs." This so-called all-comers policy doesn't fit the reality of student groups at Hastings, which include antiabortion and abortion rights groups, a gay rights group and associations of Jewish, Asian, black and Latino students. Some of these groups -- understandably -- have restrictive criteria for leadership positions.

Equal Justice for all; the CONSTITUTION DID not SAY, that one group is favored with special privileges’ over others, we’re all created EQUAL and all laws need to be applied equally among everyone in this country, period.

Only God KNOWS where all this will lead us.

Russians Furious over Torry Hansen’s Adoption Snub & Freeze All U.S. Adoptions:

Russians Furious over Torry Hansen’s Adoption Snub & Freeze All U.S. Adoptions:
By Marc Chamot

Just recently, another regular American folk from Tennessee, like Torry Hansen started an international incident between the U.S. and Russia. She traveled to Russia and adopted a seven year old Russian kid, named Artem Saveliev, but unfortunately this kid turned out to be a nutcase, as per Henson families’ say so.

And the story goes after six months; they finally had it with this kid’s violent antics, and they shipped this kid right back to Russia as unwanted goods, or damaged goods. But unfortunately the Russian government didn’t take too kindly for the gesture, in the American way of treating a problem Russian child that is.

Everybody, from radio talk shows to the Russians, they all down on Torry Hansen for sending a seven year old across the Atlantic in a plane and unattended.

So finally the Russians decided to pull the plug on Americans adopting Russian children, and the Obama administration, with his cronies, are all back there with tails between their legs, and saying “I’m sorry!

I will say “good riddance to Russian kids, or any other foreign kids for that matter.” This happened a couple weeks ago, when I heard about it, I thought it was pretty darn funny.

I’m hearing it now, okay, okay he’s seven year old Marc!

When I was a kid my father sent me unattended on plane flights, but in reality most airlines have stewards and stewardesses who look out for younger travelers, so that argument is hogwash that he was left alone.

In sincerest, I would say okay, maybe this little kid may have had some severe issues, and Torry Hansen should have taken this kid to the Washington D.C. Russian embassy, rather than airmail him across the Atlantic. But then again, I was shocked to learn that Americans are going for freakin foreign kids, when we’ve got our OWN kids, abused, poor, and orphaned all suffering here at home!

Please spare me that same old adage, "adopting foreign kids are much easier than American kids." The Russians want Torry Hansen prosecuted for this, but prosecuted for WHAT? What Hansen did was stupid, but not illegal.

In my opinion folks! I’m glad it happened. This is yet another American governmental outrage; we’ve got millions of kids here who REALLY need our help, and we’ve got people going to Russia of all places to find their kids!

In my opinion, I don’t give a rat’s a-- what the Ruskies think and do, and I’m laughing at the bowing and shameless, the “I’m sorry to the world” president we’ve got behind this incident. Is there no shame in this country anymore?

Sure, the kid was young, but Torry Hansen was dumber, for going abroad to find her kids, rather than looking into one of our own, right here, in the Good Old U.S. of A.

If you look at the photo, you can see a very troubled chid indeed.

Outraged Russia freezes all adoptions to U.S.
Russia has frozen all adoptions to the United States, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday, as national outrage simmered over a towheaded 7-year-old Russian orphan sent alone on a plane back to Moscow by his adoptive mother.

A U.S. delegation is due in Moscow in coming days to discuss the crisis with Russian officials. Russia is pressing the United States to sign an agreement that would more carefully screen would-be parents and monitor the families upon their return to the United States, Foreign Ministry officials have said.

"Russia believes that only an agreement which will contain effective tools for Russian and U.S. officials to monitor the living conditions of adopted Russian children will ensure that recent tragedies in the United States will not be repeated," Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said at a briefing Thursday.

U.S. officials denied that the adoptions had been suspended.

Russia last week halted the work of World Association for Children and Parents, the adoption agency that paired the child with the Tennessee mother.

Ever since the child turned up waiflike in the Moscow airport with nothing to explain himself but a letter from his adoptive mother calling him "mentally unstable," anger has boiled in Russia.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told ABC News that rejecting the child was "a monstrous deed ... not only immoral but also against the law."

The boy is now in a Moscow hospital, where doctors have reportedly found nothing aberrant in his condition. Just six months after adopting the boy, 33-year-old nurse Torry Hansen wrote that he was violent, unstable and "psychopathic," and that she had been misled by the Russian orphanage workers who vouched for his mental health.

It is not yet clear whether Hansen will face any charges for sending the child back to Russia on his own.

Since his return, the boy known as Artyom has become something of a cause celebre in Moscow, with multiple Russian families stepping forward and offering to adopt him.

But many more children continue to languish. Russia is home to more than 1 million "orphans," many of whom have a surviving parent who has been deemed unfit.

Last year, 1,586 Russian children were adopted by American parents, topped only by adoptions from China and Ethiopia, according to State Department figures.

The adoption of children by American parents is a deeply sensitive issue in Russia, provoking a touchy mix of protectiveness, wounded nationalism and distrust of the West. Cases of adopted children being harmed, or even killed, in the United States are reported in the state media with grisly detail and an overtone of outrage.

More than a dozen Russian children have been killed by their adoptive U.S. parents since 1996.

Obama's Labor Unions Love Affairs: Executive Order 13502; Makes $25 Million or More in Federal Construction Projects GO to Costly Unionized Bidders:

Obama's Labor Unions Love Affairs: Executive Order 13502; Makes $25 Million or More in Federal Construction Projects GO to Costly Unionized Bidders:

By Marc Chamot

Again, Mr. PREZ is favoring taxpayer moneys for minority groups of workers over the majority of unemployed, like the Obama presidential executive order 13502; directing federal agencies for no-bids, and favoring costlier unionized labor jobs for American construction projects over deficit saving alternatives that would favor most.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor and Labor Statistics, fifteen percent of construction workers in the U.S. are union members, while the rest are non union. The executive order, tells FED agencies to only favor unionized bids and those who promise to carry unionized workers in government projects.

This executive order applies to all federal construction projects that cost $25 million or more, and contracts will then be awarded to these qualified few. This executive order eliminates the vast majority of LOWER bidders and the bottom line; taxpayers will be once again footing the bill for huge labor costs.

President Obama is making sure big labor, among Democrat’s biggest source of campaign cash, will provide them millions more for the 2010 and 2012 elections. This is the typical Progressive Democrat’s back scratching styles of politics, BIG money and special benefits, pensions FOR VOTES. They call this the Chicago Way, but it’s also very common in most California cities, which is bankrupting the state.

Source: Another favor for unions from the president

“The Obama administration’s policy is a slap in the face to the vast majority of construction workers who have chosen not to unionize,” said Mark Mix, president of the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. “Qualified nonunion contractors whose workers have opted against unionization will be locked out from large-scale construction projects.

The true purpose of so-called project labor agreements is simple: to impose unwanted union-boss control on workers from the top down.” Another factor helps explain Obama’s willingness to sign an executive order that will put millions more tax dollars in union coffers.

Mix points out those unions under PLAs typically exact agreements that include requiring contractors to make payments to union pension funds. This is an increasingly urgent issue, as The Examiner’s Mark Hemingway recently detailed.

According to Labor Department filings, the average union pension has only enough money on hand to cover 62 percent of the benefits it has promised to union members. Pension plans with 80 percent funding are considered “endangered” by federal auditors, while those with less than 65 percent funding are put on the “critical” list.

With this latest executive order, it’s clear that Obama intends give unions on the critical list a massive dose of federal tax dollars to cure what ails them.

Black Conservative Tea Party Backers called Spooks, Oreos', Traitors and Uncle Toms by Other Blacks & RACIST Liberals:

Black Conservative Tea Party Backers called Spooks, Oreos', Traitors and Uncle Toms by Other Blacks & RACIST Liberals:

By Marc Chamot

"I've been told I hate myself. I've been called an Uncle Tom. I've been told I'm a spook at the door," said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government.

"Black Republicans find themselves always having to prove who they are. Because the assumption is the Republican Party is for whites and the Democratic Party is for blacks," he said.

Johnson and other black conservatives say they were drawn to the tea party movement because of what they consider its commonsense fiscal values of controlled spending, less taxes and smaller government. The fact that they're black — or that most tea partiers are white — should have nothing to do with it, they say.”

Oh now? I remember the reasons why I can’t stand LIBERALS, mainly those “Welfare Queens,” African-Americans, who degrade their OWN race, those who don’t believe like they do.

Those give me’s and hand me outs African Americans, who also don’t believe in other’s people’s right to opinions, other than their own and their racist liberal supporters on the Left egging them on.

They successfully destroyed former black conservative radio host Ken Hamblin’s career, and now they are after others, mainly black conservatives who don’t support President Obama’s leftist and COSTLY policies.

But hey, who are the real racists? We shall see it, in the Midterms when these crops of crazy Democrats go down in flames. Never in my years, have I EVER seen such a DIVISIVE and polarizing American president with his HATEFUL band of supporters. Never in my American ADULT LIFE!

Black conservative tea party backers take heat

They've been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and are used to having to defend their values. Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement — and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation's first black president.

The fact that they're black — or that most tea partiers are white — should have nothing to do with it, they say.

"You have to be honest and true to yourself. What am I supposed to do, vote Democratic just to be popular? Just to fit in?" asked Clifton Bazar, a 45-year-old New Jersey freelance photographer and conservative blogger.

Opponents have branded the tea party as a group of racists hiding behind economic concerns — and reports that some tea partiers were lobbing racist slurs at black congressmen during last month's heated health care vote give them ammunition.

But these black conservatives don't consider racism representative of the movement as a whole — or race a reason to support it.

Angela McGlowan, a black congressional candidate from Mississippi, said her tea party involvement is "not about a black or white issue."

"It's not even about Republican or Democrat, from my standpoint," she told The Associated Press. "All of us are taxed too much."

Still, she's in the minority. As a nascent grassroots movement with no registration or formal structure, there are no racial demographics available for the tea party movement; it's believed to include only a small number of blacks and Hispanics.

Some black conservatives credit President Barack Obama's election — and their distaste for his policies — with inspiring them and motivating dozens of black Republicans to plan political runs in November.

For black candidates like McGlowan, tea party events are a way to reach out to voters of all races with her conservative message.

"I'm so proud to be a part of this movement! I want to tell you that a lot of people underestimate you guys," the former national political commentator for Fox News told the cheering crowd at a tea party rally in Nashville, Tenn., in February.

Tea party voters represent a new model for these black conservatives — away from the black, liberal Democratic base located primarily in cities, and toward a black and white conservative base that extends into the suburbs.

Black voters have overwhelmingly backed Democratic candidates, support that has only grown in recent years. In 2004, presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry won 88 percent of the black vote; four years later, 95 percent of black voters cast ballots for Obama.

Black conservatives don't want to have to apologize for their divergent views.

"I've gotten the statement, 'How can you not support the brother?'" said David Webb, an organizer of New York City's Tea Party 365, Inc. movement and a conservative radio personality.

Since Obama's election, Webb said some black conservatives have even resorted to hiding their political views.

"I know of people who would play the (liberal) role publicly, but have their private opinions," he said. "They don't agree with the policy but they have to work, live and exist in the community ... Why can't we speak openly and honestly if we disagree?"

Among the 37 black Republicans running for U.S. House and Senate seats in November is Charles Lollar of Maryland's 5th District.

A tea party supporter running against House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., Lollar says he's finding support in unexpected places.

The 38-year-old U.S. Marine Corps reservist recently walked into a bar in southern Maryland decorated with a Confederate flag. It gave his wife Rosha pause.

"I said, 'You know what, honey? Many, many of our Southern citizens came together under that flag for the purpose of keeping their family and their state together,'" Lollar recalled. "The flag is not what you're to fear. It's the stupidity behind the flag that is a problem. I don't think we'll find that in here. Let's go ahead in."

Once inside, they were treated to a pig roast, a motorcycle rally — and presented with $5,000 in contributions for his campaign.

McGlowan, one of three GOP candidates in north Mississippi's 1st District primary, seeks a seat held since 2008 by Democrat Travis Childers. The National Republican Congressional Committee has supported Alan Nunnelee, chairman of the state Senate Appropriations Committee, who is also pursuing tea party voters.

McGlowan believes the tea party movement has been unfairly portrayed as monolithically white, male and middle-aged, though she acknowledged blacks and Hispanics are a minority at most events.

Racist protest signs at some tea party rallies and recent reports by U.S. Reps. John Lewis, D-Ga., and Barney Frank, D-Mass., that tea partiers shouted racial and anti-gay slurs at them have raised allegations of racism in the tea party movement.

Black members of the movement say it is not inherently racist, and some question the reported slurs. "You would think — something that offensive — you would think someone got video of it," Bazar, the conservative blogger, said.

"Just because you have one nut case, it doesn't automatically equate that you've got an organization that espouses (racism) as a sane belief," Johnson said.

Hilary Shelton, director of the Washington bureau of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, suggested a bit of caution.

"I'm sure the reason that (black conservatives) are involved is that from an ideological perspective, they agree," said Shelton. "But when those kinds of things happen, it is very important to be careful of the company that you keep."

Welcome! Israel’s New Super Tanks, Trophy; the NEW Automated Tank Defense Systems:

Welcome! Israel’s New Super Tanks, Trophy; the NEW Automated Tank Defense Systems:

By Marc Chamot

There is no question that Israel has one or the most superior air forces in the world, and now with tanks? Israel has just come out with super tanks per say, no, not the big huge tanks, but its defenses systems are set up to protect it from any missile attacks from anywhere. Just awesome!

The next thing we all need is super nuclear bunker busters to dislodge Iran from their nuclear weapons and aspiration, one specially designed for those dictator NUTASES, especially, Ahmadinejad.

All that I ask from Israel just make sure that this technology doesn’t get into the wrong hands, those of your ENEMIES; otherwise it will become worthless technology!

Israeli unveils tank-defense system of the future

HAIFA, Israel – On a dusty, wind-swept field overlooking the Mediterranean, a small team of researchers is putting the final touches on what Israel says is a major game changer in tank defense: a miniature anti-missile system that detects incoming projectiles and shoots them down before they reach the armored vehicles.

If successful, the "Trophy" system could radically alter the balance of power if the country goes to war again against Hezbollah guerrillas in neighboring Lebanon or Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. Its performance could also have much wider implications as American troops and their Western allies’ battle insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"I think people will be watching the Israelis roll this thing out and see if they can get the hang of it," said John Pike, director of the military information Web site GlobalSecurity.org in Alexandria, Virginia. "The future of the United States army is riding on the proposition that something like this can work."

The Trophy is believed to be the first of a series of so-called "active defense" systems to become operational. Such systems aim to neutralize threats before they strike the tank. In the past, tanks have relied on increasingly thick layers of armor or "reactive" technology that weakens an incoming rocket upon impact by setting off a small explosion.

Israeli weapons maker Rafael, the developer of the Trophy, says the system has been in the works for years, but the bitter experience of Israel's 2006 war against Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon gave the project an extra push.

Developers say the Trophy can stop any anti-tank rocket in the formidable Hezbollah arsenal, which struck dozens of Israeli tanks and killed at least 19 Israeli tank crewmen during their month long war.

"We can cope with any threat in our neighborhood, and more," said Gil, the Trophy's program manager at Rafael. Citing security considerations, the company would not permit publication of his last name.

Israeli analyst Yiftah Shapir said it is premature to tell whether the Trophy can make a major difference, however. He said the army must cope with the high costs of the system and determine exactly how it will be used.

"When everyone knows that it works properly, it will change the battlefield," he said.

Israeli media have said the cost is about $200,000 per tank. Rafael refused to divulge the price of the system, saying only that it's a "small fraction" of the cost of a tank.

Gil and his small team of scientists conduct tests at a site in the outer reaches of Rafael's sprawling headquarters in northern Israel — firing rocket-propelled grenades, Sager rockets, and TOW and Cornet missiles at a lone tank set up in front of a massive fortified wall. The results are analyzed in a concrete hut loaded with laptops and flat-screen monitors.

The tiny Trophy system, lodged behind small rectangular plates on both sides of the tank, uses radar to detect the incoming projectiles and fires a small charge to intercept them, said Gil.

After firing, the system quickly reloads. The entire process is automated, holds fire if the rocket is going to miss the tank, and causes such a small explosion that the chances of unintentionally hurting friendly soldiers through collateral damage is only 1 percent, the company says.

Pike, the military analyst, said systems like the Trophy are considered the way of the future for ground warfare. The technology is a key component of the U.S. "Future Combat System," the master plan for the American military, he said. The U.S. and Russia are developing similar systems.

If the technology works, he said it will reduce the need for heavy armor on tanks — resulting in lighter vehicles that are easier to transport and deploy and are more nimble on the battlefield. But, he noted, "It’s a lot easier to get it to work on a test range than it is to get it to work on a battlefield."

Lova Drori, Rafael's executive vice president for marketing, said "there is a lot of interest" internationally in the Trophy and he expects "quite a few customers" in the coming years.

Rafael officials said the Trophy has passed more than 700 live tests, and already has been installed in some Israeli Merkava 4 tanks in a pilot project.

In a statement, the army said "dozens of tanks should be outfitted with the new system" by the end of the year, adding that Trophy contributes to "maintaining a strategic advantage over enemy forces."

More than three years later, the 2006 war continues to shake Israel's defense establishment. Upward of 1,000 Lebanese were killed in the fighting, according to tallies by the Lebanese government, humanitarian groups and The Associated Press. In all, 159 Israelis were killed. The war ended in a stalemate and is largely viewed in Israel as a defeat.

The Trophy is the latest in a series of new systems. State-owned Israel Military Industries is producing "Iron Fist," an anti-missile defense that is expected to be installed on Israeli armored personnel carriers next year.

That system takes a different approach from Trophy, first using jamming technology that can make the missile veer off course, and if that fails, creating a "shock wave" to blow it up, said Eyal Ben-Haim, vice president of the company's land-system division.

State-run Rafael is also developing "Iron Dome," which can shoot down the short-range Katyusha rockets that rained down on Israel in 2006, as well as Hamas rockets fired from the Gaza Strip. Iron Dome is expected to be deployed by this summer near Gaza.

The Israeli air force recently unveiled a squadron of unmanned airplanes capable of reaching Iran, the key backer of Hezbollah and Hamas militants.

Rafael has also developed an unmanned naval boat called the Protector, which it says is already prowling the waters off the Gaza coast. The Israeli navy confirmed the Protector is being tested, but gave no further details.

"There are two major developments, she says, that are new this year and insufficiently noted, but they're going to shape election outcomes in 2010 and beyond. First, Washington is being revealed in a new way.

The American people now know, "with real sophistication," everything that happens in the capital. "I find a much more knowledgeable electorate, and it is a real-time response," Ms. Blackburn says. "We hear about it even as the vote is taking place."

Voters come to rallies carrying research—"things they pulled off the Internet, forwarded emails," copies of bills, roll-call votes. The Internet isn't just a tool for organization and fund-raising. It has given citizens access to information they never had before. "The more they know," Ms. Blackburn observes, "the less they like Washington."-Tennessee Representative Marsha Blackburn
